RYA Day Skipper

The RYA (Royal Yachting Association) Day Skipper qualification is a certification for individuals who want to skipper a small yacht or motorboat in coastal waters. The qualification covers the knowledge and practical skills required to safely and confidently navigate a vessel in moderate conditions during daylight hours.

To achieve the RYA Day Skipper qualification, candidates must have a basic knowledge of navigation, meteorology, and collision regulations, and must demonstrate practical skills such as maneuvering in close quarters, handling sails, and mooring. The course includes both theoretical instruction, which can be studied online, and on-water training.

Once candidates have completed the course and passed the exam, they will receive a certificate and be eligible to apply for an International Certificate of Competence (ICC), which is recognized in many countries as evidence of competence to skipper a small vessel in coastal waters.

Overall, the RYA Day Skipper qualification is an internationally recognized certification that demonstrates a high level of competence in navigating and skippering small vessels in coastal waters.
